Science that stands up to series production.
Spun off from the Fraunhofer Institute, we invest a significant share of revenue in R&D every year – for test methods that will set tomorrow's standard.
Fraunhofer at the core.
Spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute.
RTE's story begins at the Fraunhofer Institute for Non-Destructive Testing (IZFP). That is where the scientific foundations were laid on which SonicTC is built today: acoustic resonance analysis, NVH evaluation and vibration-based process monitoring.
In 1998, RTE was founded as an independent company. Since then we have been combining research depth with industrial pragmatism – and we maintain the connection to the Fraunhofer Society to this day.
- Over 40 years of applied research in acoustic test technology.
- Ongoing cooperation with Fraunhofer IZFP on joint projects.
- Direct transfer of research results into industrial series solutions.
What we are researching.
Self-learning test algorithms
Deep learning and anomaly detection for greater discrimination. Less false-rejects, faster ramp-up of new test features – even with small sample sizes.
Advanced signal processing
Research into new analysis domains: time-frequency methods, wavelet decomposition and psychoacoustic metrics for more objective noise evaluation.
Inline process integration
Real-time capable algorithms for seamless integration into production lines. Adaptive thresholds that automatically adjust to process drift.
Advancing research together.
Research projects & consortia.
RTE actively participates in national and European research projects to advance non-destructive testing methods. In collaboration with universities, Fraunhofer Institutes and industrial partners, we develop methods that work in the lab today and stand up to series production tomorrow.
The close interweaving of research and product development ensures that new findings flow quickly into SonicTC – to the benefit of our customers.
- Participation in EU and BMBF-funded research projects on non-destructive testing.
- Cooperation with Fraunhofer IZFP and other research institutes.
- Own acoustic lab with low-reflection measurement environment in Pfinztal.
Our acoustic lab.
From prototype to series – at the same location.
At the RTE site in Pfinztal near Karlsruhe we operate a fully equipped acoustic laboratory. Here we conduct feasibility studies, develop new analysis methods and validate test specifications – under controlled conditions.
The same SonicTC software used in the lab then scales into inline testing. Test features, measurement archives and parameter sets remain fully compatible.
- Low-reflection measurement environment for precise acoustic reference measurements.
- State-of-the-art sensors: Brüel & Kjær, Polytec, PCB and more.
- Testing-as-a-Service (TaaS) for rapid feasibility analyses.
