§ 03 · Test method

Process monitoring

Hear problems before they happen.

What is it about?

The method in one sentence.

Acoustic process monitoring uses vibration and sound signals to evaluate manufacturing processes in real time. Tool wear, tool break, joining control, friction and lubrication states – those who listen to the process recognize issues before scrap appears.

Process monitoring

How does it work?

Sensors on tool, machine or workpiece continuously capture vibration. SonicTC.DSP segments signals along the NC program or process state, computes metrics per segment and compares them against adaptive thresholds or an AI model.

Typical applications

  • Early tool break detection on CNC machining centers
  • Wear detection on forming and pressing tools
  • Joining control for screwing, riveting and clinching
  • Bearing and machine monitoring (condition monitoring)
  • Lubrication and friction state analysis
With SonicTC we made the jump from sampling to 100% inline testing – without replacing our existing hardware.
