Principle

How acoustic testing works.

Every part has an acoustic fingerprint.

Acoustic test technology uses sounds and vibrations as information carriers. Defects, wear or material deviations measurably alter this fingerprint.

SonicTC analyses these changes – objectively, reproducibly and fast enough for series production. The result: a digital test record per part, in under a second.

  • Eigenfrequency and modal resonance reveal cracks, structural defects and material mix-ups.
  • FFT, order and envelope analysis characterise noise anomalies.
  • Time-domain vibration monitoring detects tool wear and joining errors in real time.

Noise testing

Objective evaluation of airborne and structure-borne noise – on motors, gearboxes, pumps and actuators. Psychoacoustics, order analysis, golden-part comparison.

AT

Material resonance analysis

Eigenfrequency, Q-factor, damping and mode shifts detect cracks, voids and material defects – non-destructively and fully automated.

DSP

Process monitoring

Real-time vibration analysis for tool wear, joining and machine monitoring. PROFINET-ready, Industry 4.0.

Spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute.

RTE was founded as a Fraunhofer spin-off. This origin still shapes our work. Every analysis method in SonicTC has scientific roots.

Each year we invest a significant share of revenue in R&D – for methods that will be tomorrow's standard.
