Every sintered part has a sound – we hear if it's right.
Density, cracks, sintering grade, material mix-ups – including additively manufactured 3D metal parts, 100 % non-destructive.
From powder to tested part – in cycle time.
Why acoustic resonance testing for sintered parts?
Sintered parts from powder metallurgy place special demands on quality control: density, porosity and sintering grade vary within tight tolerances. Classical methods such as Archimedes weighing or metallographic sections are destructive or only economical as spot checks. Additively manufactured 3D metal parts (laser metal sintering, SLM/DMLS) can be evaluated with the same test logic.
Acoustic resonance analysis with SonicTC.AT tests every sintered part in under one second – non-destructively, inline and fully automated. Eigenfrequencies and damping values correlate directly with density, microstructure and crack-free integrity.

What matters in this industry.
Density & porosity
Eigenfrequency correlates directly with sinter density – non-destructive 100 % control instead of Archimedes sampling.
Crack & void detection
Modal resonance detects micro-cracks and internal voids regardless of position and orientation – even in complex geometries.
Sintering grade
Acoustic fingerprint distinguishes correctly sintered parts from under- or over-sintered batches in < 1 second.
Material mix-ups
Detect mix-ups of powder blends, alloy additions or heat-treatment batches at the line end.
Press process monitoring
Real-time acoustic monitoring of the compaction process detects tool wear and mis-presses before sintering.
Calibration-free sorting
Self-learning classification separates good/bad parts and variants without elaborate first-article inspection.
Porosity & lack-of-fusion (AM)
Lack-of-fusion, gas porosity and layer bonding defects in SLM/DMLS parts are detected via eigenfrequency and damping shifts – inline instead of CT sampling.
How SonicTC secures your line.
Applied case Sintered Parts.
Our Sintered Parts customers deploy SonicTC across the entire value chain – from incoming goods through production to end-of-line testing.
Typical setups combine SonicTC.AT and SonicTC.DSP in one line and deliver gapless data trails down to the individual part.
- 100% inline testing with < 1 second cycle
- Audit trail per part with serial number
- PROFINET / OPC UA integration
- Service contract with defined SLAs
